PDC09
2009年11月17日(火)-19日(木)に開催されたMicrosoft PDC09と16日(月)にあったプレカンファレンスに参加してきた。
4日間セッション漬けはちょっと大変だったけど、内容は素晴らしく、クラウドについて総括的に学ぶことができた。
今回のPDC09で分かったことは、エンタープライズ系の(オープン・)クラウドではAzureがほぼ唯一といえる有力な選択肢であるということである。
もちろん、ソーシャル系を始めとするニュー・ビジネス向けのプラットフォームとしてはAmazonやGoogleが先行しており、またエンタープライズ・システムが本格的にクラウドに載ってくるにはもう少し技術の成熟が必要と考えられることもあり、必ずしも現時点ではエンタープライズ向けの機能を充実させていることが有利とは限らない。まだまだ状況は流動的である。
いずれにしても、Amazon、Googleに加えてMicrosoftがメジャー・プレイヤーとしてクラウド・プラットフォームのゲームに参加していることを確認することができた。
ソーシャルへの距離感、エンタープライズへの距離感、ニュービジネスへの距離感といったもので、クラウド・プレーヤーの立ち位置が変わってくる。そういう意味でAWS, AppEngine, Azureもかなり立ち位置が異なりそうなのでそれぞれ独自のマーケットを構成するようになるかもしれない。
いずれにしても、当面は、この3社の技術動向をフォローしていくことが基本になる。
PDC09のセッションは以下の場所で視聴することができる。WMVをダウンロードしてオフライン視聴も可。PPTXで内容をさらっと確認することもできる。
膨大だけど、Azure specificな内容を割り引いてもクラウド時代の技術上の論点を把握する上で絶好のコンテンツ群といえる。Azureを使わなくても同じことは考えないといけない。
